On April 5, 2023, 16-year-old Isaiah Mullens Jr. was fatally shot at the Monterra Apartments near the 400 block of 112th Street East in Parkland, Washington, just south of Tacoma. Deputies from the Pierce County Sheriff's Department responded to a 911 call reporting the shooting and found Mullens with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts and transport to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
