In the early hours of April 15, 2024, the life of 30-year-old Zachariah Janusiewicz, a White male from Everson, Washington, was tragically cut short in a wooded area near an encampment in north Bellingham. The events of that morning unfolded after multiple 911 calls reported the sound of gunfire just after 3 a.m. Responding officers discovered a group of people attempting to help Janusiewicz, who was being pushed in a shopping cart and was suffering from obvious gunshot wounds to his upper body.
