On January 5, 2023, Marquis Whitted, a 19-year-old from Youngstown, Ohio, was tragically shot and killed alongside his girlfriend, Kylearia Day, also 19. The incident occurred while they were traveling north on Interstate 680. Both victims were found in a vehicle that had been shot at multiple times. Whitted succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while Day was transported to a hospital but later died from her wounds.
