On January 23, 2023, 61-year-old Timothy Mark Nash was fatally shot multiple times, including in the face and chest, at a residence near East 61st Street and Central Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. The Cleveland Division of Police and EMS responded to the scene and pronounced Nash deceased upon arrival.
Following the incident, authorities identified 23-year-old Malik Blackwell as the suspect. Blackwell was apprehended on May 4, 2023, at an apartment building in Euclid, Ohio, by the U.S.
Marshals Service. He faced charges for the aggravated murders of both Timothy Nash and Anthony Norman, the latter occurring on April 7, 2023.
In June 2024, a Cuyahoga County grand jury found Blackwell guilty of two counts of aggravated murder, four counts of murder, and four counts of felonious assault, among other charges. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 68 years. Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley remarked, "This man is a violent individual who deserves to spend the rest of his life behind bars."
