Daniel Fitzgerald, a 25-year-old resident of Middletown, Ohio, was tragically killed on February 4, 2023. Fitzgerald was shot in the early hours of the morning at a residence on 15th Avenue, along with his friend Marvin Tyrone Davis II. The police responded to a 911 call around 3:27 a.m., where they found both men suffering from gunshot wounds. Fitzgerald was pronounced dead at the scene, while Davis was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
The Butler County Coroner's Office confirmed that Fitzgerald died from a gunshot wound. Investigators have indicated that there were no signs of forced entry into the home, nor any evidence suggesting that the victims had fired back in self-defense. This has led authorities to believe that the shooting may have been targeted rather than random. Eyewitnesses reported hearing one of the victims pleading for help during the 911 call.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this double homicide. The Middletown Police Department continues to investigate the case, actively pursuing leads and reviewing security footage from nearby locations, including a bar frequented by the victims. Police Chief David Birk has stated that the investigation is ongoing and remains a priority for local law enforcement. Despite these efforts, as of early 2024, both Fitzgerald's and Davis's deaths remain unsolved, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
