Zachary Wallace, a 16-year-old male from Middletown, Ohio, tragically died on December 6, 2019, from multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred on Manchester Avenue, where Wallace was shot by Mezahn Demarco Amison, a 21-year-old man. Wallace attempted to flee to Casper Avenue but succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Atrium Hospital.
Following the shooting, Amison fled to Trenton but was later arrested and charged with Wallace's murder.
Additionally, a 16-year-old accomplice was arrested and charged with obstructing official business. The case went to trial, and Amison was found guilty of murder and felonious assault. In August 2020, he received a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 18 years.
The shooting was reportedly the result of an ongoing conflict between Wallace and Amison. Witnesses at the trial revealed that Wallace and his girlfriend had encountered Amison on the night of the incident, leading to the fatal confrontation. The girlfriend testified that she heard Amison say, "Ya’all thought this was over," before he opened fire.
