Brandon Miller was a 41-year-old Black man from Cincinnati, Ohio, and a devoted father of five. His family said that on the day he was killed, he was running an errand for his mother, who has cancer. “I can’t believe it that someone will take my son’s life,” his mother, Margaret Miller, said. His sister, Gwen, described the family’s pain, while the mother of four of his sons, Porchia Eaton, worried about how the boys would cope with the loss of a father they loved.

2023, shortly before 1 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 block of Findlay Street in the West End neighborhood. Officers arrived to find Brandon Miller inside a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
The Cincinnati Police Department’s Homicide Unit launched an investigation. Less than a month later, on August 8, 2023, detectives from the Homicide Unit, working with the Fugitive Apprehension Squad, arrested a suspect. The individual was identified as 18-year-old Dacari Isham. Miller’s mother said she was familiar with Isham, having seen him in her neighborhood daily. “Today is a good day for me,” she said upon hearing of the arrest. “And now maybe I can get some rest. And maybe now my son can sleep in peace.”
The day after his arrest, Isham appeared in court for an arraignment, and a judge set his bond at $1 million. On August 16, 2023, a grand jury indicted Isham on two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, and one count of tampering with evidence. As of August 2023, the case against him was proceeding through the court system.
