Joshua Matthew Mickhail was a 33-year-old White man from Toledo, Ohio, who was a beloved son and a wonderful father. Born on October 13, 1989, he was cherished by his parents, Nancy and Mike Mickhail, his two brothers, and his sons, whom he loved more than anything. His family and loved ones remember him as someone who will be greatly missed.
On the night of August 6, 2023, just before 11 p.m., police officers were called to Joshua’s home in the 400 block of Bronson Avenue in North
Toledo. They found him on his front porch suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was rushed to St. Vincent Hospital, but he did not survive his injuries.
The Toledo Police Department began an investigation into the fatal shooting. After more than two weeks of work, their efforts led to an arrest. On August 23, 2023, authorities took 26-year-old Christian Beck into custody in connection with Joshua's death. Beck was booked into the Lucas County Jail and charged with murder.
In September 2023, Beck was arraigned in court, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. A judge set his bond at $1 million, and the case proceeded through the legal system.
The case reached its conclusion in May 2024. Christian Beck entered an Alford plea to a murder charge, a plea in which a defendant does not admit guilt but acknowledges that the evidence presented would likely lead to a guilty verdict. Judge Michael Goulding accepted the plea and sentenced Beck to 15 years to life in prison. The judge dismissed the other charges against him, bringing the case to a close.
