Lamitrias White, a 16-year-old African American male from Toledo, OH, tragically lost his life on July 22, 2018. He was a student at Waite High School, where he enjoyed woodshop and was known for his happy and loving nature. Lamitrias was a beloved member of his family and community, leaving behind his mother, RaShaunda White Scott, his father, Ivory Carter Sr., and numerous siblings, relatives, and friends.
On the night of his death, Lamitrias was shot on his front porch while yelling
for help. He was transported to St. Vincent Medical Center, where he succumbed to head and chest gunshot wounds. Alongside Lamitrias, two other teenagers, aged 16 and 17, were also injured in the shooting but survived their injuries. Authorities responded to the scene and launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack. Despite their efforts, no arrests have been made, and the case remains unsolved.
Lamitrias' death marked the 27th homicide in Toledo for that year, highlighting the ongoing issue of gun violence in the city. The community mourned the loss of the young boy, and his memory continues to be honored by those who knew and loved him.
