On May 31, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in Toledo, Ohio, resulting in the death of 17-year-old Marshawn Robinson. The shooting took place in the 1400 block of Beecham Street near Spencer Street in south Toledo. When police responded to the call around 2 p.m., they found Robinson in the rear of a nearby residence, along with a second victim, 25-year-old Teryaun Perrin, who was lying in the street.
Both victims had been shot at least once and were immediately treated at the scene before being transported to the hospital. Unfortunately, Marshawn Robinson succumbed to his injuries that same day. The Lucas County Coroner's Office determined his cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds and ruled it a homicide. Teryaun Perrin, initially in critical condition, later died from complications of a gunshot wound to the neck on August 17, 2024.
Following the incident, law enforcement launched an investigation that led to the identification of two suspects: brothers Markas Walker, 21, and Marquis Walker, 19. On June 13, members of the U.S. Marshals led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Markas Walker at an apartment in the 2700 block of Pickle Rd. in Oregon, Ohio.
The search for the second suspect, Marquis Walker, continued until August 30, 2024, when he was apprehended by the NOVFTF and the Toledo Police Department's SWAT Team. Marquis Walker was arrested without incident at a home in the 300 block of Dennis Ct. in Toledo.
A Lucas County grand jury indicted both suspects on four counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, discharge of a firearm near a prohibited premises, and tampering with evidence. The charges were updated to include a second murder charge after Teryaun Perrin's death.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott commented on the arrests, stating, "Two violent individuals are now off the streets, dedicated work between the Toledo Police Department and the NOVFTF brought this case to closure. Hopefully justice can now begin for the families of these two victims."
