Tyrone Ursey Jr., a 23-year-old African American male from Toledo, OH, tragically lost his life on November 5, 2020. He was a warehouse handler for Amazon.com, Inc. and was well-loved by his family and friends. Tyrone was born on September 27, 1997, and graduated from St. Francis De Sales High School in 2016, where he played football and baseball. He enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and dancing.
On the day of his death, Tyrone was one of three victims in a triple homicide at the Parqwood
Apartments in Toledo. The incident began as a hit-and-run at the intersection of Bancroft Street and Parkwood Avenue. Keylona Witcher, who was involved in the crash, struck an unidentified victim with her vehicle on purpose, causing an ankle injury, and also rammed another vehicle occupied by two people, one of whom was the ankle injury victim. Police were called to the apartment building nine minutes later for shots fired.
When officers arrived, they found Gary Witcher, Deanna Himon, and Tyrone Ursey Jr. dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. D'Angelo Porter, a 24-year-old from West Park Street, was identified as the suspect and a murder warrant was issued for his arrest. Porter was later found in Detroit and taken into custody without incident. He pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated murder and one count of felonious assault and reckless homicide. In April 2022, Porter was sentenced to life in prison for the triple shooting.
The tragic loss of Tyrone Ursey Jr. deeply affected his family and community, and his memory continues to be honored by those who knew and loved him.
