Despite pleading guilty to domestic violence charges twice, Moore was still able to access a firearm.
In March 2023, Kevin Moore was sentenced to life in prison without parole after his insanity defense was rejected. Judge Eric Allen Marks ruled that Moore understood the wrongfulness of his actions despite his severe schizophrenic mental illness. The judge emphasized the need to prevent individuals with mental illness from accessing weapons. Moore expressed remorse and asked for forgiveness from the victims' family.
