Skylar Renee "Sky" Young, age 24, tragically lost her life on November 19, 2023, in Lorain, Ohio, in what authorities have determined to be a murder-suicide. The incident occurred at the family's residence in the 100 block of East 9th Street, where Skylar lived with her husband, Tyler Young, 29, and her two children.
According to the Lorain Police Department, Tyler Young is believed to have shot and killed Skylar, their 4-month-old son Bandin Young, and Skylar's 9-year-old daughter
Angel Isaac, before turning the weapon on himself. The bodies were discovered by police officers at approximately 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 19, when they responded to reports of loose dogs in the area. Upon entering the home, law enforcement found an unsecured door to the upstairs unit, where they made the grim discovery.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the shootings took place sometime between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sunday. A 9-millimeter firearm, believed to be the murder weapon, was found next to Tyler Young's body. Two additional firearms were recovered from the residence.
It was revealed that Tyler Young had a history of domestic violence. He was previously arrested in May on charges of domestic violence and strangulation. At that time, Skylar, who was 26 weeks pregnant with Bandin, reported that Tyler had threatened, slapped, and choked her. However, the case did not result in an indictment as Skylar later recanted her statement, claiming she may have had a flashback to a prior incident.
No arrests were made in connection with this tragedy, as the primary suspect, Tyler Young, was found deceased at the scene. The Lorain Police Department continues to investigate the case, but preliminary findings point to a murder-suicide committed by Tyler Young.
