On November 26, 2023, at approximately 3:45 a.m., 30-year-old Denzel Herron was fatally shot near the intersection of Hill Avenue and South Reynolds Road in south Toledo, Ohio. Responding officers found Herron with a gunshot wound to the chest; he was transported to the University of Toledo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The Lucas County Coroner's Office confirmed that Herron died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
The incident marked the 37th homicide in Toledo for the year 2023.
Following the investigation, two individuals were arrested and charged in connection with Herron's death. On May 18, 2024, 36-year-old Adrian Warren was indicted on two counts of murder, one count of felonious assault, and one count of having weapons while under disability. Surveillance footage reportedly showed Warren shooting Herron during a dispute at an after-hours bar located at the Reynolds and Hill Plaza.
Subsequently, on May 23, 2024, 35-year-old William Kynard IV was arrested and charged with murder while attempting to commit a first or second-degree violent offense. Kynard is accused of shooting Herron following an altercation at the same establishment. Surveillance video obtained from the club corroborated the events leading to the shooting.
Both Warren and Kynard were indicted by a Lucas County grand jury and are awaiting trial.
