On April 8, 2024, at approximately 10:12 a.m., Cincinnati police responded to reports of a shooting in the 2600 block of Reading Road in Avondale. Upon arrival, officers found 33-year-old Marcus Jamison, the manager of a White Castle restaurant, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Later that day, around 2:40 p.m., the Cincinnati Police Department's Homicide Unit, with assistance from District Four officers, arrested 45-year-old Lashannon Hill in connection with Jamison's death. Hill, who had been waiting for his girlfriend's shift to end at the White Castle, allegedly shot Jamison after being asked to stop loitering inside the restaurant earlier that day. Prosecutors stated that Hill waved Jamison over to his vehicle, and when Jamison approached the driver's side window, Hill shot him multiple times.
Following the incident, Hill left the scene but later turned himself in to the police, surrendering the 9mm handgun used in the shooting. He admitted to firing the shots but claimed he acted in self-defense, believing Jamison was about to assault him. Hill's defense attorney noted that Hill has impaired vision, which may have affected his perception during the incident. Despite the self-defense claim, Hill was charged with murder and held on a $200,000 bond.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing. Authorities have urged anyone with additional information to contact the Cincinnati Police Department's Homicide Unit.
