On April 9, 2024, Howard Dorsey, a 35-year-old resident of Warren, Ohio, was found shot to death in his home located on Lovers Lane NW. The tragic incident unfolded when a friend of Dorsey called 911 after discovering him bleeding and unresponsive. Upon arrival, police found Dorsey lying on the dining room floor with a handgun nearby, indicating a violent confrontation had occurred. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and seeing two men fleeing the scene shortly after the shots were fired.
In the wake of Dorsey's death, two suspects were arrested: Kyair Kyser and Donovan Adams. Kyser, who was just 19 years old at the time, turned himself in to law enforcement shortly after the shooting. He faced serious charges, including aggravated murder. Adams was also apprehended later and charged with complicity in the murder alongside other serious offenses such as aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence.
However, as the legal proceedings unfolded, both suspects faced significant setbacks. A Trumbull County grand jury declined to indict Kyser in September 2024, citing undisclosed reasons for their decision. Similarly, in December 2024, the grand jury issued a "no bill" for Adams, meaning he would not face charges related to Dorsey's murder either. This lack of indictment for both suspects has left many questions unanswered regarding the circumstances surrounding Dorsey's death and whether further legal action will be pursued against either individual. As it stands, there are no additional charges anticipated against Kyser or Adams at this time.
