Lamon Wiggins, an 18-year-old recent graduate of Withrow High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, was tragically shot and killed on May 18, 2024, just hours after celebrating his graduation. Following the ceremony, Wiggins and his friends gathered at Withrow High School for a party that began late in the evening. The celebration was interrupted by gunfire around 3:30 a.m. the following morning, leading to Wiggins' death.
Despite multiple noise complaints reported to police regarding the gathering at Withrow High School, officers initially deemed it a harmless youth event. Police Chief Teresa Theetge stated that officers spoke with attendees earlier in the night and found no evidence of violence or wrongdoing at that time. However, as the night progressed, additional noise complaints were made, and the situation escalated into a shooting. Wiggins' family expressed frustration with law enforcement's response, claiming that police had the opportunity to intervene before the violence erupted. They believe that had police acted on the complaints sooner, Wiggins might still be alive.
