On August 10, 2024, at approximately 11:25 p.m., Akron police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1800 block of Coventry Street in the Firestone Park neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers found 20-year-old Elijah Demarion Jones lying in front of a residence with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
