On August 16, 2024, 18-year-old Liam Furian Cedric Bouldrey of Defiance, Ohio, was found deceased under the Hopkins Street Bridge near Auglaize Road. Responding to reports of a body around 10 p.m., Defiance Police officers discovered Bouldrey with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Defiance Police Department, with assistance from Defiance Fire and Rescue, the Defiance County Coroner's Office, and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Bouldrey's death. As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The investigation remains ongoing.
Bouldrey was set to begin his senior year at Defiance High School, where he played trombone in the marching band. He was also an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts at Camp Lakota and worked part-time at Subway. His unexpected death has left the community mourning the loss of a young man remembered for his dedication and friendly nature.
A visitation was held on August 24, 2024, at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, followed by a funeral service officiated by Rev. David Brobston. Memorial contributions were suggested to Camp Lakota for maintenance and improvements, or directly to the family.
