On the evening of October 13, 2024, Cleveland police responded to a call regarding "unknown trouble" in the 16000 block of Euclid Beach Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle with two unresponsive occupants, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims, identified as 19-year-old Mikayla Janay Franklin and 19-year-old Damarion Bailey, were transported to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
Investigators believe the shooting may have occurred near the 16100 block of Lakeshore Boulevard, with the vehicle coming to rest on Euclid Beach Boulevard. The Cleveland Police Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident. As of now, no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made.
Mikayla Franklin was born on June 23, 2005, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to parents Willie Bowman and Nakia Franklin. Her passing at such a young age has left her family and community in mourning. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Slone & Co. Funeral Directors.
