In the early morning hours of January 2, 2023, a verbal argument between roommates in a Las Vegas apartment escalated into a fatal encounter. Jesus Hernandez Toño Castro, a 22-year-old Caucasian male, was shot and killed in a converted garage apartment on the 3500 block of San Francisco Avenue. His roommate, 24-year-old Jesus Mendoza-Zarate, initially called 911 at approximately 5:45 a.m. to report that his friend had taken his own life.
