In the eastern part of Las Vegas, on the afternoon of October 4, 2024, the life of 33-year-old Dominique Rattler, a Black / African American male, was tragically cut short. The incident unfolded around 4:22 p.m. near Lewis Family Park, at the intersection of Grass Meadows Drive and Tree Line Drive, where Rattler sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The Clark County coroner's office would later rule his death a homicide.
He is survived by his wife and eight children.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the scene and quickly launched a homicide investigation. Their efforts led them to an adjacent apartment complex where two suspects were apprehended in connection with the fatal shooting. The individuals taken into custody were identified as 19-year-old Serge Kamga and a 16-year-old whose name was withheld due to their minor status.
During court proceedings, it was revealed that the tragic event may have stemmed from a "drug deal gone bad," as the suspects had reportedly arranged to purchase marijuana from Rattler. Serge Kamga is facing serious charges, including open murder, robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery. Despite his attorney's plea for his release, a judge set his bail at $1 million, citing the gravity of the charges. Funeral services for Dominique Rattler were held on Friday, October 18, 2024, as his family mourned their profound loss.
