On November 20, 2023, 31-year-old Ricardo Samuel Peña Martinez was fatally shot in a parking lot near the 1900 block of Chicago Avenue South in Minneapolis. Responding officers found him with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the back; despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at Hennepin Healthcare.
