On July 1, 2023, 17-year-old JaRon Reed of Wichita, Kansas, was fatally shot during a drug-related incident. The Wichita Police Department responded to reports of a shooting around 6:30 p.m. in the 900 block of North Glendale Street. Upon arrival, officers found Reed unconscious with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper chest. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
