On the evening of September 1, 2023, a White/Caucasian female named Norma Williams, 69 years old, was tragically killed in Wichita, Kansas. She and her husband of 52 years, George, were on their way home after enjoying their grandson's high school football game. Their journey took a fatal turn when they encountered a group of motorcyclists at the intersection of Kellogg and Greenwich.
The bikers were reportedly driving erratically, running a red light.
One of the motorcycles, operated by 19-year-old Daryon Boone, collided with the Williamses' pickup truck. Following this initial incident, Boone pursued the couple's vehicle. In a senseless act of road rage, he produced a handgun and fired into the truck. Norma, who was in the passenger seat, was struck by the gunfire. Her husband immediately drove to a nearby QuikTrip at Central and Greenwich to call for help, but her injuries proved to be fatal.
The shooter, Daryon Boone, initially fled the scene but was apprehended by police shortly after the incident. He was arrested and subsequently charged with first-degree murder and criminal discharge of a firearm. The case moved through the legal system, and Boone later pleaded guilty to amended charges of second-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder for endangering Norma's husband. In October 2024, Daryon Boone was sentenced to nearly 27 years in prison for his role in the death of Norma Williams.
