On the evening of April 9, 2024, 19-year-old Dontis Carter was fatally shot at an apartment complex in the 2700 block of South Emporia in Wichita, Kansas. First responders arrived around 9:30 p.m. to find Carter with multiple gunshot wounds; despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
