On the night of April 5, 2021, a dispute that began in the drive-thru of a Burger King in Wichita, Kansas, tragically escalated, resulting in the death of 19-year-old Quantin McIntosh Jr., a Black / African American male. The initial argument involved McIntosh and the occupants of another vehicle.
Following the verbal exchange, McIntosh pursued the other car.
The confrontation continued until, in the vicinity of Harry and Roosevelt streets, an individual from the other vehicle fired multiple shots into McIntosh's car, striking him. At the time of the incident, McIntosh was accompanied by his 20-year-old girlfriend. After the shooting, she drove to the 1600 block of South Oliver, where she was able to alert police officers who were conducting a separate traffic stop.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and McIntosh was transported to a local hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries. The Wichita Police Department opened a criminal homicide investigation into the shooting. Law enforcement officials stated at the time that the motive for the shooting was unknown, and it was unclear if the individuals involved had any prior acquaintance. Investigators were seeking witnesses and information about the dark-colored sedan involved in the incident. Despite the ongoing investigation, there have been no public announcements regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the death of Quantin McIntosh Jr.
