In a tragic series of events that unfolded on a Sunday in south Wichita, 55-year-old Terry Wayne Meyer, a male resident of the city, lost his life in a violent rampage that claimed three other victims before the gunman took his own life. The incident, which has shaken the local community, was not a random act of violence, as the victims were all known to the perpetrator.
The events began to come to light on the evening of November 10, 2024, when police were called to a home in the 1700
block of South Santa Fe. Inside, they discovered the body of 67-year-old Anthony Stickney, who had been fatally shot. Information gathered at the scene led officers to the residence of Anthony's son, 42-year-old Joshua Stickney, in the 1900 block of South Laura.
Upon their arrival at the second location, officers observed two unresponsive individuals inside the home. Forcing their way in, they found a grim scene. Terry Meyer, who was Joshua Stickney's live-in stepfather, was deceased, having sustained gunshot wounds. Also found dead in the home was 66-year-old Donald Dodge, a friend and neighbor of Joshua's. The investigation took another somber turn when officers, attempting to find someone to care for Joshua's pet, went to the nearby home of 39-year-old Alan Young. There, they discovered Young also deceased from gunshot wounds.
The suspected gunman, Joshua Stickney, was also found dead at his residence from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A firearm located near his body is believed to be the weapon used in all the shootings. While the motive for the quadruple murder-suicide remains under investigation, police have assured the public that there are no outstanding suspects. Friends and neighbors of the victims were left in shock, with one of Meyer's friends describing him as a kind and gentle person. A neighbor recalled seeing Meyer as a quiet man who often worked on his cars. The incident stands as one of the city's rare quadruple homicides.
