In the quiet community of Jarreau, Louisiana, a tragedy unfolded that ended the life of 80-year-old Catherine Roy, a female resident of the town. On the evening of Wednesday, February 8, 2023, she was fatally shot in her own home on Pecan Lane. The incident left the community in shock and resulted in the swift arrest of her husband.
According to the Pointe Coupee Sheriff's Office, Catherine was shot and killed by her 78-year-old husband, Clyde Roy Sr.
The violence did not end with his wife's death. Roy also shot another man who was present in the trailer home at the time. This second victim was transported to a hospital in Baton Rouge for treatment of his injuries. His condition following the shooting was not immediately made public.
In the aftermath of the fatal shooting, Clyde Roy Sr. was taken into custody by law enforcement. He was subsequently booked into the Pointe Coupee Parish Detention Center. The charges brought against him were severe, including one count of second-degree murder for the death of his wife, Catherine, and one count of attempted second-degree murder for the shooting of the other man in their home.
