29 year old woman killed by family member In the early morning hours of January 15, 2014, a verbal argument in a home on North Donmoore Avenue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, ended in tragedy. Maura Baquedano, a 29-year-old Hispanic female, was struck in the head with an object and died at the scene. The altercation that led to her death involved her own cousin, with whom she shared the residence.
Immediately following the incident, Baton Rouge Police detectives identified the suspect as 37-year-old Antonio Baquedano, the victim's
cousin. Investigators determined that he fled the location before authorities arrived. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest on the charge of second-degree murder. At the time he was last seen, Antonio Baquedano was described as a Hispanic male, standing 5'4" tall and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds. He was wearing jeans, a camouflage jacket, and an LSU ball cap.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement, Antonio Baquedano has remained at large. Years after the death of Maura Baquedano, her case is still considered an unsolved homicide. As of late 2019, Antonio Baquedano was still listed as a wanted fugitive by authorities in connection with his cousin's death. The search for him continues, leaving a resolution in the case pending and justice for Maura Baquedano yet to be served.
