On a Tuesday evening in Shreveport, Louisiana, the life of 38-year-old Roy Delane Crew Jr. was cut short by gunfire. The fatal shooting occurred on February 21, 2023, in the 2100 block of Miller Street, marking the city's twelfth homicide of the year. When Shreveport Police Department officers responded to reports of the shooting at approximately 5:13 p.m., they discovered a grim scene.
Crew, a male, was found deceased at the location.
Alongside him, a 70-year-old woman had also been struck by a bullet. Emergency services transported the injured woman to a local hospital for treatment of her wounds. In the street and a nearby driveway, investigators found multiple shell casings, evidence of the violence that had unfolded. A car at the residence had also been damaged by the gunfire.
In the immediate aftermath, law enforcement began their search for those responsible. Initial reports indicated that police were looking for a suspect who may have been driving a blue-colored sedan. Further investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit suggested that two Black male suspects were involved. It is believed they arrived at the Miller Street location, fired numerous shots at the victims, and then fled the scene.
The Shreveport Police Department has appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of the individuals responsible for Roy Delane Crew Jr.'s death.
