In the early morning hours of Saturday, February 25, 2023, the city of Baton Rouge was unsettled by a grim discovery. James Evans, a 48-year-old Black male, was found deceased behind a residence in the 900 block of Progress Street. The quiet of the neighborhood was broken shortly after 8 a.m. when his body was discovered, bearing the tragic marks of multiple gunshot wounds.
