On April 2, 2023, at approximately 3:30 a.m., 19-year-old Black male Javant Dunn of Greensburg, Louisiana, was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in the 200 block of South Emilie Street in Garyville, Louisiana. Responding deputies from the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office found Dunn unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner's office.
