On the morning of April 12, 2023, 21-year-old African American male Joshua L. Chism was fatally shot in an apartment located in the 100 block of North Melrose Avenue in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Responding officers from the Natchitoches Police Department discovered Mr. Chism suffering from a single gunshot wound. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office.
