In April 2023, the community of Broussard, Louisiana, was shaken by the tragic death of 51-year-old Katherine Jewell Mashburn Babineaux. The events unfolded at a residence on N. Girouard Road, where deputies from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office were called to investigate suspicious circumstances. Upon their arrival, they discovered the bodies of Katherine and her estranged husband, 53-year-old Eric Babineaux.
