On April 17, 2023, 51-year-old Katherine Jewell Mashburn, a resident of Broussard, Louisiana, was tragically killed in a murder-suicide incident. According to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, her estranged husband, 53-year-old Eric Babineaux, fatally shot Katherine before taking his own life. Deputies discovered their bodies at a residence on North Girouard Road after responding to a call reporting suspicious circumstances.
