In the spring of 2023, a tragedy unfolded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, leaving a community in mourning and a family shattered. On the evening of April 26th, police discovered the bodies of 47-year-old Latonya Brown, a Black female, and her 19-year-old child, Stacy Brown. They were found inside their apartment on South Sherwood Forest Boulevard, both having been fatally shot the previous day, April 25th.
The initial investigation left detectives with few leads, as the motive behind the double homicide and the identity of the perpetrator remained elusive.
The case, which had deeply unsettled the local community, saw a significant breakthrough nearly three months later. On July 12, 2023, the Baton Rouge Police Department, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, arrested 33-year-old Erin Hartley in connection with the murders of Latonya and Stacy Brown.
