In the spring of 2023, the life of 24-year-old Wendale Harvey was cut short in a burst of gunfire in New Orleans East. On the evening of May 24th, officers from the New Orleans Police Department's Seventh District were called to the 7000 block of Martin Drive, where they found Harvey suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
The investigation into Harvey's death led detectives to identify two
individuals as persons of interest who might hold crucial information about the shooting. Authorities publicly named 30-year-old Frederick Stalbert and 27-year-old Kenyonica Green, seeking the public's assistance in locating them. It was emphasized by the police that Stalbert and Green were not considered suspects in the homicide at that time.
As the investigation continues, the community has mourned the loss of Wendale Harvey. An online memorial page was created in his honor, where friends and family have shared tributes and lit virtual candles, expressing their grief over his violent and untimely death. Nicknamed '2 Delly,' he was remembered as being comical and loving. To date, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with the murder of Wendale Harvey.
