On May 24, 2023, 24-year-old Wendale Harvey was fatally shot in the 7000 block of Martin Drive in New Orleans East. Responding officers from the New Orleans Police Department's Seventh District found Harvey suffering from gunshot wounds; he was transported to a hospital by EMS but later succumbed to his injuries.
