On the night of June 12, 2023, tragedy struck in New Orleans when Kirk Johnson Jr., a 42-year-old male, was fatally shot. The New Orleans Police Department responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at approximately 11:28 PM in the 4000 block of Sullen Place. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Johnson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his midsection.
