On June 17, 2023, around midnight, the teenager was discovered inside a vehicle in the 2600 block of Elder Street, near Franklin Avenue in the Gentilly Terrace neighborhood. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency responders rushed him to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
The night he was shot, Malik was reportedly in the company of close family friends.
