On July 2, 2023, 18-year-old Tylon Washington of Crowley, Louisiana, was fatally shot, leading to an ongoing investigation by the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred at the Kathy Apartment Complex, located just west of Crowley. Deputies were not immediately informed of the shooting and only became aware of it the following day when a missing persons report was filed for an individual believed to be at the Kathy Apartments on that Sunday.
