On a Saturday afternoon, July 22, 2023, 67-year-old Barry Roussel of Ponchatoula, a male, was shot and killed at the Albany Tourist Information Center off Interstate 12. The incident, which occurred around 4 p.m., stemmed from a domestic-related dispute. Roussel died at the scene from his injuries.

The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, working jointly with the Albany Police Department, investigated the shooting. Their investigation led to the immediate arrest of 68-year-old Edward Paul ...
