On a tragic September night in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the life of 23-year-old Paige Gorne Ceasar was cut short. On September 29, 2023, Paige was at a nightclub on Broad Street when gunfire erupted. She was an innocent bystander in a violent altercation that had its roots in a previous dispute involving one of the shooting victims and the suspects.
While three other individuals were injured and later released from a local hospital, Paige succumbed to her injuries.
In the wake of the shooting, the Lake Charles Police Department launched an investigation that quickly led to the identification of two suspects. The first, 24-year-old Ryan Joseph Taylor, was located and apprehended by SWAT officers on October 6 at a residence in Sulphur. He was subsequently charged with one count of second-degree murder, principal. His bond was set at $1.5 million. Shortly after, an arrest warrant was served for 22-year-old Sebastian Isiah Latigue for one count of second-degree murder and three counts of attempted second-degree murder. His bond was established at $2.25 million. Latigue was already in custody, having been arrested on October 3 on unrelated charges.
Paige Gorne Ceasar, born on July 12, 2000, was remembered for the bright smile she always wore and her willingness to help others. A graduate of Nimitz High School in Houston, Texas, she was studying to become a medical assistant. She was a dedicated employee at Market Basket, where she served as the courtesy booth manager. A loving mother, she leaves behind her young son. Her untimely death has left a void in the lives of her family, friends, and all who knew her.
