In the late hours of a Monday evening in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, an argument outside a convenience store escalated into a fatal encounter. Jevaughn Oubre, a 37-year-old male, was shot and killed on February 5, 2024. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. near the Circle K gas station on Michael Delving Road, where Oubre was found deceased in the roadway from a gunshot wound.
According to reports from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, Oubre and another man were engaged in a dispute
after leaving the store. The argument took a deadly turn when the other individual, identified as 32-year-old Traveron Richard, allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Oubre. Witnesses at the scene were able to identify Richard as the shooter, leading to his swift arrest in a nearby neighborhood shortly after the shooting.
Richard was subsequently booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. He is facing serious charges, including second-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. In May of the same year, a grand jury indicted Richard on the charge of second-degree murder, and an additional charge of obstruction of justice was brought against him in connection with Jevaughn Oubre's death.
