In the evening hours of Wednesday, February 14, 2024, a dispute at an RV park on Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge escalated into a fatal encounter for 20-year-old Sergio Estuardo Baleu-Cucul. A physical altercation between Baleu-Cucul and another individual preceded a terrifying chase through the park. Armed with a firearm, the assailant pursued Baleu-Cucul before ultimately shooting and killing him.
The suspect then made a swift departure from the scene in a silver SUV.
Responding to the incident at approximately 8:20 p.m., deputies from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office discovered Baleu-Cucul, who had succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect.
The following day, authorities publicly identified 19-year-old Kentrell Brothers as the individual responsible for the death of Sergio Estuardo Baleu-Cucul. Brothers was subsequently taken into custody and is facing a charge of second-degree murder in connection with the deadly shooting.
