On March 31, 2024, a fatal shooting occurred in the 12400 block of Cate Avenue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The victim, 35-year-old Edward Brooks, was shot around 11:15 a.m. Uniform Patrol Officers from the Baton Rouge Police Department were dispatched to the scene, where they found Brooks suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
