In the late afternoon of a spring day in Shreveport, Louisiana, a young man's life was cut short in a burst of violence. Jalan Tishun Adger, a 23-year-old male, was walking with a female companion in the Cedar Grove neighborhood on May 16, 2024, when they were approached by another man. An argument erupted, reportedly over the woman, escalating quickly and violently.
The verbal confrontation turned into a physical fight between Adger and the other man, identified as 20-year-old Rodriguez
Howard. In the heat of the moment, Howard allegedly produced a firearm and shot Adger multiple times. The gunshots echoed through the streets near the intersection of Union Avenue and West 74th Street, leaving Adger with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene, becoming the city's 26th homicide victim of the year.
Shreveport Police detectives quickly launched an investigation into the shooting. Their inquiries led them to identify Rodriguez Howard as the suspect. He was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Jalan Tishun Adger. The tragic incident stemmed from what authorities described as a dispute over a female acquaintance.
