In a tragic and swiftly executed act of violence, 31-year-old Kedrick Glasper, a male resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was shot and killed on the morning of August 15, 2024. The incident unfolded at the Suburban Apartments on Hanks Drive. The man responsible for his death was later identified as Tyrus Watson, who was 22 years old at the time of the shooting.
The motive behind the killing was a domestic dispute, as Glasper was in a relationship with Watson's ex-girlfriend.
On that Thursday morning, Watson arrived at his ex-girlfriend's second-floor apartment, carrying both his child and a handgun. While Glasper's girlfriend was in the shower, Watson confronted and shot Glasper multiple times. The entire fatal encounter was shockingly brief, lasting less than three minutes from Watson's arrival to his departure from the scene with the child. Glasper was discovered unresponsive outside the apartment by his girlfriend and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Surveillance footage from the apartment complex played a crucial role in the investigation, capturing Watson arriving in a white Acura, carrying the child and the visible handgun, and then fleeing in the same vehicle after the shooting. Later that day, Watson's car was found abandoned in north Baton Rouge with its license plate removed. Watson ultimately turned himself in to the East Baton Rouge Constable's Office that afternoon, after ensuring the child was safely with the grandmother.
Initially arrested for second-degree murder, Tyrus Watson later pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter. In December 2025, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the killing of Kedrick Glasper. Following the sentencing, Watson's brother, Bobby Tircuit, was arrested and charged with terrorizing after he allegedly harassed and threatened Glasper's family and girlfriend.
