In the small city of Minden, Louisiana, a shocking event unfolded, leaving the community in disbelief. On a Sunday morning, police responded to a call reporting two deceased individuals inside a residence on Austin Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of 31-year-old Keisha Miles and her father, 82-year-old Joe Cornelius Sr., a former Minden mayor and city council member.
Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation quickly took a stunning turn when a juvenile, a relative of the victims, confessed to the killings. Accompanied by his grandmother, the boy, initially reported as 10 and later as 11 years old, admitted to the crime to the Minden Police. Early reports from neighbors suggested that the tragic incident may have been preceded by an argument between Cornelius and the boy concerning credit card charges for video games.
The young boy was taken into custody and is being held on two counts of first-degree murder with a bond set at $500,000.
