On September 1, 2024, Joe Cornelius Sr., an 82-year-old former mayor and long-time public servant of Minden, Louisiana, was found dead in his home along with his 31-year-old daughter, Keisha Miles. The bodies were discovered in the morning, with both victims having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
