In the fading afternoon light of January 3, 2023, Paul A. Turner, a 42-year-old White/Caucasian male, was shot at a residence in southwest Louisville, Kentucky. The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. in the 8300 block of Arnoldtown Road. Emergency services responded to the scene and transported Turner to the University of Louisville Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed that his cause of death was gunshot wounds.
The location of the fatal shooting was a house that held a complicated history for Turner. He had owned the property from 2015 until July 2022, when it was sold at a court-ordered auction due to foreclosure. In the month leading up to the shooting, Louisville Metro Police had been dispatched to the address on several occasions. The calls were reportedly for a variety of complaints, including trespassing, harassment, and break-ins, with one such call occurring just a day before the fatal incident.
Following the shooting, the Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit launched an investigation. Authorities stated that all individuals involved in the incident had been accounted for. No arrests were made at the time. The case was to be compiled and presented to the Commonwealth's Attorney's office, which would then determine whether any charges would be filed in connection with the death of Paul A. Turner.
